Your venue shapes your date, budget and guest list. What to ask before you sign.

Know your numbers first

Have an approximate guest count and budget before touring. Capacity for a seated dinner is lower than for a cocktail reception, so ask for both.

Ask what is included

Tables, chairs, linens, catering, bar service, staff, setup and cleanup can be included or extra. Ask about minimum spends, service charges, taxes and exclusive vendors.

Think about the whole day

Is there a backup plan for rain? Where will the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception take place? Is there parking, accessible entrances and a place to get ready?

Read the contract carefully
