Moments worth keeping

Your photographs are what you keep. How to choose a photographer and plan a day that photographs well.

Look at full galleries

Highlights show a photographer’s best frames. Ask to see two or three complete weddings, ideally in venues and light similar to yours.

Know what is included

Confirm the hours of coverage, second shooter, number of edited images, delivery time, print rights and travel fees. Get it in writing before you pay a deposit.

Build time into the schedule

Golden hour — the hour before sunset — gives the softest light. Leave 20–30 minutes for portraits, and give your photographer a short list of family groupings with names.

Let moments happen

The best images are often unplanned: a parent’s reaction, friends on the dance floor. Tell your photographer what matters to you, then enjoy the day.
